Somewhere along the way, my inner school supply nerd morphed into Bible study supply nerd, and I regret nothing. Today, I did a little “refresh” of the stuff I keep in my pen bag, and it seemed like a good time to offer the world a nice little line-up of the kind of stuff I keep on hand both for church and for personal Bible study and prayer time.

• Bible - This one fits my current specific angle of studying/reading/worshipping (lots of thoughts on that), but I’ve also heavily used and enjoyed this and this. This one in particular is the GOAT because it has all the right space for note-taking and comes in lots of cover options.

• Journal from Daily Grace Co - I use a journal primarily for sermon notes. I’ve used lots of different ones, and I tend to change it up.

• Prayer journal - This resource changed my life. It’s my third year using it!

• Pen bag - Mine is from Well Watered Women, but sometimes they are sold out. However I tracked down some fun options that still have the elastic band: this, this, and this

• Highlighters that can keep up - Here’s a pack on Amazon if that’s an easier place to shop, but I got mine from Walmart. I’ve never had trouble with highlighters bleeding, but I think the Bibles I tend to use are designed for note-taking and have thick pages.

• Post-its - I’m currently trying some translucent ones, which I’m excited about, especially to use in my prayer journal, so I can jot down notes without completely covering up over stuff.

• Erasable, colorful pens - These are my fave, but they’re hard to track down and keep increasing in price, so I’m trying these now. (Fun fact: Some people say heat from a car will erase erasable pens, although I’ve never personally had that happen, and I’ve used them for years. Maybe I just don’t tend to leave it in the car? Not sure. However, I recently learned from reading tons of Amazon reviews that sticking it in the fridge can bring back the color. Worth a shot, right?)

• My ride-or-die ballpoint pen - This one writes so smooth! I’m actually obsessed with the experience of using this pen with the particular paper they use in this series of studies by Lydia Brownback.
