FREE Study on Wisdom for 3rd-5th Graders
/In my mind, one of the best things about being a parent is noticing how OTHER adults are pointing my kids to Jesus. When my kids start talking to me about Bible passages they learned at school or church, I turn into the peppiest version of myself (cheerleader energy), and I try to get them to tell me everything. I LOVE to piggyback off of something they’re already learning and try to press it into the carpet of their souls like play-dough. (This metaphor works better if we pretend playdoh in the carpet is a good thing.)
Anyway, my daughter had been studying 1 Kings at school, and she had lots to tell me about Solomon and wisdom, and I had lots to say about Solomon and wisdom, and before you know it, my daughter’s annoying mom had outlined a whole Bible study based on our conversation. Over a few days, we sat down to write the thing. (Luckily, my daughter is into the reading/writing/studying thing as much as I am. Y’all don’t let me do this with my other two, okay? They will hate it.) She handed out copies to the kids in her class, and her precious teacher let them do the study during their Bible time for a few days earlier this semester! We were fired up, fired up to win. (This is a cheer, I think, and for some reason I know motions? Can any cheerleaders out there give insight? I did ballet, so I do not know what I’m talking about.)
Anyway, here’s the point: my favorite girl and I wrote a 3-session Bible study about wisdom, and we decided maybe some other kids might want it? We have two version: one with drawings and one that will preserve your printer ink. Is that vitally important to anyone else? We think it’s great for third through fifth graders, though you’re welcome to try it with other ages and let us know how it went! (The connections in it are super exciting even for grownups, though, so if you get it for your kid, read it through yourself! You may see opportunities for more “piggybacking.”)
Cheers to playdoh in the carpet! Metaphorically speaking, of course!
