Gift Ideas for Kids!

In my mind, a classic, can’t miss gift pairing for a kid is a great book + a cute stuffed animal. What could be better than curling up with a good book and a snuggle buddy, you know? So, with the help of my own kids, I tracked down a great stuffie to pair with each of my kids’ books, and maybe it’ll spark your imagination as you purchase gifts for the kids in your life this Christmas (or really, any time!).

Three things:

  1. Each of these books was written for kids ages 4 through 8 and are are available wherever books are sold.

  2. You can find the exact link for each stuffed animal beneath each photo, and each photo is linked to my Amazon storefront, where you can see options Amazon currently has available. (That means this post contains affiliate links, which does not cost you anything, but it can benefit my ministry in a small way.)

  3. According to my 10-year-old daughter, this is “a really snuggable gift.”

New Testament Survey for Kids (An Accidental Conversation)

He was flipping through the tiny blue New Testament he was given as a baby, wondering about the words in red. “The words are red when Jesus talks,” I explained, smiling as I remembered that was even a thing. What a wonderful thing!

What came next was an accidental New Testament survey, six-year-old style. (I thought I’d retell it to you because sometimes talking to a kid about the Bible makes you love the Bible more.)

Telling Kids the True Story of Thanksgiving (And the True Gospel)

Telling Kids the True Story of Thanksgiving (And the True Gospel)

As I consider how I’ve been taught and how to teach my children, history clashes loudly with the familiar narratives. It’s tempting for us to force-feed redemption into the stories we tell rather than tell stories as they actually are. However, when we strong-arm redemption, we can short-circuit the powerful experience of longing for a Redeemer—and I don’t want my kids to miss that.
